Still going I will never stop on this journey to Health both Physical & Mental
“As you think it… So you will do”
Whenever we feel negative sensations such as pain, those sensations are transformed emotionally by the word labels we put on them. Worse, the words we attach to our experience become our thoughts and our memories of the experience. Words have potent biochemical effects on the brain. If you use the phrase, “I’m furious.” it leaves a very different emotional memory than, “I’m a bit annoyed.”
It’s even more obvious when other people speak to us. If someone says, “I think you’re mistaken,” it creates a much better emotional memory than if they say, “You’re a damn liar”. The same process happens with the words we use to ourselves, but we’re less conscious of their impact.
Try this 30-day challenge. (It dovetails nicely with self-improvement effects of the 30-Day Isagenix Program). Write a column of the negative emotions you experience at least once a week, the feelings that are the most distressing. Then, find a new word for each one, words that soften the emotional impact. Use these new words consistently with yourself and with others for 30 days. Use the new words to reduce the intensity of all your negative emotions.
By improving your habitual vocabulary, in this way you can quickly change how you think, how you feel, and how you behave. Of course there are still times when we might feel justified in being furious, but it’s nice to have a conscious choice instead of a habitual reaction.
It is the same with tasks that are often viewed as unpleasant. Some days it may seem hard to work out in the morning, until you start thinking what a privilege it is to be healthy, and how many sick people would give their eye teeth to be able to work out at all.
Marketing guru Michael J Clouse speaks of the average worker dreading going to work on Mondays. If that describes you, it’s time to look in the mirror. Tell the person you see there that most of their waking life will be spent working. Change your vocabulary. You don’t have to go to work. You get the privilege of going to work and providing for your family. You get the pride of it.
If you just cannot improve negative emotional reactions to Mondays, then maybe it’s time for a change. Life is too short not to love your work. Maybe it’s time for the pride of Isagenix.
